How to Pick a Profitable Domain Name – 3 Quick And Easy Strategies Using Words That Sell

You have a great product idea and now you want to carve out your piece of virtual real estate online by using a unique domain name…so how do you pick a profitable domain name? It’s not hard if you know where to start and what to do. Follow these 3 quick & easy strategies:

1. One of the most important things you should do first is anchor your domain name using your main product or service keyword. For example, let’s say you want to create a profitable domain name around the keyword “business GoDaddy email login “. Maybe you want to sell custom business plans to small business owners.

What you would do is make your domain root word “business plans.” After establishing your root keyword, you then want to add a prefix or suffix to your root to narrow your offering. A great resource for learning more about using words that sell is a book by Richard Bayan called “Words That Sell”.

Or you can simply type in the keyword “business plans” on Google and carefully research what other people are using. Be sure to keep your domain name as short as possible, maybe something like: smallbusinessplans.com.

2. The next step is to complete your research and finalize your domain name. A great resource for researching profitable domain names is domainsbot.com. Let’s say that you like the domain name smallbusinessplansdirect.com. All you would do is enter the domain name into the domainsbot.com search bar and hit return. It will show you if that domain name is available as well as give you additional ideas to consider.

3. Your final step is to register your new domain name. I personally like godaddy.com and have found their website easy to navigate. However, most people have more than one domain name that they would like to complete a search on.

Instead of entering each domain name into the main search bar, I’ll let you in on a secret way to search all your possible domain names at once. Go to godaddy.com and click on the domains tab. Then click on the bulk register drop down. Simply paste all of your choices into the box and GoDaddy will return the results all at once!

You don’t have to be computer savvy to make your own website. I will take you step by step through the process of making a new site.

First go to GoDaddy or any other place to buy domains and put in the name you want for your site right there on the homepage. There will be a box to type in your idea of the name of your site. Many names are already taken so throw in a word that will make your site unique and available. Once you find a site that is available you want to buy it. Don’t fall for all of the up-sales they will throw at you after you click purchase. Just skip them all and proceed to the checkout. If you don’t want people to know that you are the one that owns the site you will want to register it as a private domain.

Buying the domain is cheap, it will only cost about 8 dollars for a year. But you also have to have what is called a hosting account that will host your website. You can do hosting through GoDaddy but there are cheaper hosting plans available. You will be looking at about 8 dollars a month for hosting. You can put multiple sites under one hosting account so it is well worth it to buy multiple domains.
